Each September, families gather together to celebrate the matriarchs and patriarchs of the family on Grandparents Day, the second Sunday of the month. This is a wonderful time set aside to honor grandparents, to give them an opportunity to show love to their children’s children, and to teach children about the strength, information and guidance older people can offer. Norfolk Florist suggests you bring the grandparents in your family an arrangement of gorgeous flowers to celebrate these special relationships. Read More about Celebrating Family Through Flowers
"Perfect love sometimes does not come until the first grandchild." Welsh Proverb
Marian McQuade was a West Virginia mother to 15, and grandmother to many more. She understood the value of family history and imparting wisdom to the generations which follow us - and thought there should be a formal holiday dedicated to doing so. In 1978, Ms. McQuade saw the bill she proposed passed by the Congress, and National Grandparents Day was born.
The holiday was never meant to be a big commercial event, rather she hoped that families would take advantage of the day to have reunions, arrange gatherings, and attend community events together. Her vision was that the generations could learn to appreciate each others contributions, while making sure that the personal family stories and legacy was preserved. Today, the spirit of the day still encourages rich relationships between grandparents and grandchildren. If you are looking for a meaningful way to honor your favorite people, look no further than Norfolk Florist. Our team has assembled a collection of Grandparents Day flowers, plants and gifts for every personality. Read More about Delivering Grandparents Day Flowers
