As we roll into the New Year, we become motivated and inspired to make small changes in our day-to-day living that could have a positive impact on our health, productivity and relationships. At Norfolk Florist, we believe flowers can accomplish all of that. Here's how:
Flowers reduce stress. Surrounding yourself with flowers and the green foliage that often comes with them is a scientifically proven way to create a calmer, more peaceful atmosphere and reduce levels of stress.
Flowers help you focus. Because plants and flowers are natural air purifiers, they remove toxins and impurities from the air we breathe, helping us to have clearer minds and more focused attention to detail. What a great way to work each day.
Flowers help us be more compassionate. When we care for another living thing we find ourselves gaining more compassion and empathy as we become others-focused. Strengthen your relationships by caring for plants or flowers. Read More about Motivated and Inspired By Flowers
During the holidays, the families of fallen veterans often suffer the absence of their loved ones and find the holidays to be a difficult time. This season, consider participating in one of the many Wreaths Across America wreath-laying ceremonies. These events, in which Christmas wreaths for veterans are placed on grave sites, began at Arlington National Cemetery and has spread to hundreds of locations across the country and abroad. Being part of something so significant is a great way to have a meaningful and purposeful holiday season this year. The floral designers at Norfolk Florist are eager to share our holiday wreath collection with you and your family. Read More about Christmas Wreaths for Veterans
Each September, families gather together to celebrate the matriarchs and patriarchs of the family on Grandparents Day, the second Sunday of the month. This is a wonderful time set aside to honor grandparents, to give them an opportunity to show love to their children’s children, and to teach children about the strength, information and guidance older people can offer. Norfolk Florist suggests you bring the grandparents in your family an arrangement of gorgeous flowers to celebrate these special relationships. Read More about Celebrating Family Through Flowers

How did you get into floral work?
Since my husband is active duty military, I was a homemaker for many years. As all of my children got older, I wanted a career for myself that I was going to enjoy. I was trying to figure out what that would be for several months. Finally it hit me when I was working in my garden---floral design! I have always loved gardens and flowers. I started doing research online and found a school that had an at-home program. Once I completed my basic floral design certificate. I applied to be a temp for Norfolk Florist. I was hired into the company and have been working ever since! Read More about Our Mom And Flower Expert Talks The Perfect Flowers For Mom
